Christ Our Eternal King and Priest

Psalm 110 reveals the identity and work of the Messiah, describing Jesus as both the promised King who rules over all creation and the eternal High Priest after the order of Melchizedek.

Psalm 110:1 is the most quoted Old Testament verse in the New Testament, used by Jesus and the apostles to establish Christ's divine nature. Messiah is not merely another king in David's line, but the Son of God Himself.

Christ's priesthood after the order of Melchizedek means the entire Mosaic system — sacrifices, temple worship, and Levitical priesthood — would be replaced by an eternal Priest and King who would vanquish all evil, shattering kings, judging nations, and ultimately crushing Satan's head as promised in Genesis 3:15

Application: The Believers' salvation is eternally secure because Christ is an eternal priest who lives forever to intercede for them.
